The Staff of Charwick Hill
Dr. Sharon Charles
Sharon was raised on a cattle farm in Saskatchewan and graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. It was a natural progression for Sharon to enter a mixed practice but although she liked working with cattle, large animal medicine is hard on the body. In 2005 therefore, she said goodbye to the sleepless nights during calving season and settled in Edmonton dealing with dogs and cats. Sharon's compassion for her patients is clear when you first meet her and the bonus is...they like her too!
Andrea Coughlan R.V.T (Registered Veterinary Technologist)
From a young age, Andrea always knew that she would eventually spend her life looking after animals and when she was 16 she acquired her first Newfoundland dog. After graduating from Fairview College in 1992, she spent 6 years gaining valuable experience working at Edmonton Veterinarians's Emergency Clinic. Like Sharon, Andrea eventually longed for sleep at night and so she left the emergency clinic and joined a regular practice. She enjoys her patients and the relationship she forms with their caregivers and to this day still shares her life with Newfoundland dogs.
Lorna moved from the UK to Canada with her husband and son in 2007; also making the long journey with them were her two cats, Reggie & Charlie. Over the past few years, the Bewick home has welcomed 2 more feline friends and a red-footed tortoise. For years Lorna wanted to become involved in veterinary practice and on arriving in Edmonton she took the opportunity to learn as much as she could about the day-to-day administration of a small animal practice by initially volunteering at her local vet clinic. We are pleased to say that Lorna excelled at admin and reception and has joined us here in Charwick Hill. She can always be found petting the patients and making our clients feel welcome.
